  • Does your school have a STEAM Program?

    Yes. Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program is a two-year course of study for students interested in the world of high-tech engineering. Students take introductory courses in engineering branches such as aerospace, mechanical, electrical, civil, and biomedical, as well as computer science.  The emphasis is on collaborative, hands-on team work, problem solving, design, and research. 
  • If my child does not have a solid Jewish background, will he/she be at a disadvantage?

    No. The de Toledo High School student body is a blend of students from diverse Jewish backgrounds and experiences. Jewish Studies courses are taught with consideration of individual student ability.
  • Does de Toledo High School provide College Counseling?

    Yes. dTHS provides highly individualized counseling throughout the entire college application process that reflects each student’s interests, personality, and academic goals. Our college counseling department helps each student find his or her unique path. Whether this path leads to a campus within the University of California or California State University systems, an Ivy League university, a small liberal arts college, an art or technical institute, a college in Israel, or a two-year community college, students are supported and advised throughout their journey.
  • Do you have a Performing Arts program?

    Yes. Students participate in annual musical theatre and drama productions, visual and performing arts festivals and competitions, instrumental ensemble and jazz band performances in the community, choir performances, the annual JamFest competition for selected local high schools, community exhibitions for high school student artists, and regional dance competitions. The 2016 production of Urinetown-The Musical won the Jerry Herman Award for “Best Production” among Los Angeles area high schools.
  • My child has a passion for science. Are there science education enrichment opportunities?

    Yes. Students participate in our Science Academy, an after-school enrichment program exploring the full spectrum of biological and physical sciences. Students pursue their passion for science, engage in hands-on learning experiences, and meet with scientists who expose students to the latest scientific findings in their respective fields. Our Science and Medical Academies offer many classes that may include robotics, marine biology, microbiology, forensic science, rocket science, computer science, food science, and a colloquium featuring prominent guest MD and PhD speakers.
  • Is Hebrew a required course?

    Hebrew is required for three years (consecutively from the year of enrollment). Our Hebrew courses satisfy the language requirement for all colleges and universities. Students do not need to speak Hebrew prior to enrollment. We have a program geared for students learning Hebrew for the first time as well as classes for students whose language skills range from beginning to advanced.
  • Do you have competitive Sports teams?

    Yes! We have 35 teams in 22 sports and have won 40 championships in Boys Baseball, Boys Basketball, Cross Country, Flag Football, Boys Golf, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Boys Swim, Girls Swim, Boys Volleyball, Girls Volleyball, and Wrestling. Individual athletes have signed letters of intent to colleges and universities before graduating from de Toledo High School.
  • Are there learning opportunities beyond the classroom?

    Yes. Our approach to education includes both experiential learning and classroom instruction. Each spring, the entire community spends 4 days at a community retreat (“Shabbaton”).  dTHS students explore the world around them in a variety of local, national, and international locations. Grade level trips highlight each academic year - the 9th grade “get to know you” retreat, an Israel exchange program with Tel Aviv high schools featuring travel/study for 10th graders, a Civil Rights tour of the American South for 11th graders, and a senior trip to National Parks. We offer an optional exchange program with schools in Uruguay and Hungary, as well as the opportunity to teach peers in Africa how to grow spirulina, a superfood.
  • What is the tuition? What additional costs should be anticipated?

    Tuition for the 2023-2024 school year is $44,500. There are supplemental fees for items including, but not limited to, grade trips, the All-School Shabbaton retreat, Parent Organization dues, yearbook, and safety and emergency preparedness needs. The 12th grade fee includes graduation costs. These fees do not include bus transportation, textbooks that families purchase directly from the supplier, athletic uniforms, school dances or other social gatherings, and certain specialized field trips that may occur during the course of the year. Current supplemental fees range from $2,140 for grade 9 to $4,090 for grade 12. Tuition and fees for the 2024-2025 school year are posted on dths.org/tuition.
  • Is Tuition Assistance available?

    Yes. The Board of Directors is committed to providing a tuition assistance program to our families. This program enables many students to attend de Toledo High School who might not otherwise be able to do so.
  • Do you require the ISEE exam prior to admission?

    No. We review each applicant’s standardized testing from his or her current/prior school(s) as part of the admissions process. We are able to gather sufficient information from those tests without requiring applicants to undergo additional testing.
  • What modes of transportation and campus parking are available?

    Families are encouraged to drive in carpools or to use our bus and shuttle transportation options, which are offered at an additional cost. Students in 11th and 12th grades are permitted to park on campus.
  • Do you require a school uniform?

    We do not have a school uniform; we do have a dress code. Proper attire sets a tone for serious learning. Clothing that is immodest or detracts from the learning environment is not permitted. Details may be found in the Parent/Guardian-Student Handbook.
  • How can parents get involved?

    The de Toledo High School Parent Organization partners with Administration in supporting the school’s educational, social, and community events.  Parents serve as ambassadors at school functions, run the JagShack, sell spiritwear (JagWear), and assist at events both on and off campus. Parent volunteers are recruited year-round, and all are welcome to participate.
